Prospect Smith Named Frozen Four MVP

by

Ben Smith

Blackhawks prospect and Boston College senior center Ben Smith was named the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four’s Most Outstanding Player, following B.C.’s 5-0 victory over Wisconsin in the National Title Game Saturday in Detroit. Smith scored 4 points (3G, A) in the Eagles’ two victories in Detroit, including the game-winner in the championship game.

The championship marks the second in Smith’s time at B.C.; the first came in 2008 with current Rockford IceHog Michael Brennan.

Smith, a sixth-round pick (169th overall) in 2008, tallied 16 goals and 21 assists in 42 games with Boston College this season. He scored 122 points (57G, 65A) in 165 career games at B.C., and finished his collegiate career as Boston College’s active scoring leader.
